Inspired Jewellery

I had planned on posting long before now but I’ve been battling a nasty infection over the last week. This year has been one illness after the next for me – not a good start!

My ‘practice’ pieces of jewellery are all complete and, rather nifty, if I say so myself. Next week I can start working on the real thing. I’ll keep you posted!

Lily Lolo Mineral Makeup

It’s been about a year since I discovered the wonderful world of mineral makeup. I first heard about it in a book called The Thrift Book by India Knight. India mentioned Lily Lolo makeup saying it was natural, good for the skin and very long-lasting. I was intrigued.

Mineral makeup is bascially ground-up minerals and pigments, specifically titanium and zinc oxide, both of which occur naturally and provide SPF 15. Zinc is anti-inflammatory and can be very good for conditions like rosacea and acne. Mineral make up is also free fromĀ parabens, fragrances and fillers – no more talc, thanks.

One of my favourite things about Lily Lolo make up, especially the foundation, is that it doesn’t block pores! This is great for people with allergy-prone or sensitive skin. You apply this stuff and you just forget that you’re wearing make up because it’s so light.

Have a look at this brilliant Lily Lolo make up tutorial for ‘barely there’ make up. I think the model looks fantastic and this is the same look I use for the day.

I realize there are quite a lot of names on the market for mineral make up these days, especially now that some of the bigger names like Maxfactor and Rimmel and jumping on the bandwagon, but I recommend Lily Lolo. It’s great value for money and contain as many natural ingredients as possible.

Ruth Haokip Handmade Jewellery

Me, looking nervous.

Hello and welcome to my new blog! I feel that I should introduce myself to you, my readers. I’m bad at introductions but here goes…

My name is Ruth, I’m 25 years old and I live in Scotland with my husband and daughter. I’ve been making jewellery for a long time and my internet venture is brand new. I called my business Ruth Haokip for a couple of reasons; the first is that some of my favourite designers have used their names the same way and the second reason is that the name ‘Haokip’ is also the name of the tribe that I married into and seek to promote through my website and jewellery.

I’ve been out to India once (to get married) and I loved it! My husband, Daniel, and I are taking our daughter out there in April to meet the rest of her family. Millie is two and she hasn’t met her Papa’s side of the family yet – it’s going to be a great trip!

Before I leave for India I’ll be putting my debut collection of jewellery up in my Etsy shop. It’s going to be organic, natural and full of life and colour. Sneak peeks on the blog are coming soon!

So, that’s my little intro – if you want to ask me something (anything!) just post a comment below and I’ll be sure to get back to you.

Look out for lots more posts.:)
